As you know, just after eighteen months of writing and editing, my new book, Ten Years a Nomad: A Traveler’s Journey Property, came out final month.
In contrast to my preceding books, this is not a “how to guide” but a collection of ideas, tips, and stories from the road. It a memoir of my ten years backpacking the planet and the lessons I discovered along the way.
This book gets to the heart of wanderlust and what extended travel about the planet can teach us about life, ourselves, and our location in the planet. (Or at least tries to.)
It is meant to show people today that if I, a sheltered nerdy kid from a smaller town, could muster the courage to do this and survive, you can as well!
Cheryl Strayed named it inspiring. The Los Angeles Instances mentioned, “This book is not just for travelers it is for any individual who has wanted much more and has taken off to come across it.” Tony Wheeler, the founder of Lonely Planet, loved it. So did Rolf Potts.
And, much more importantly, thousands of readers who hold sending me messages that they couldn’t place it down and it renewed their wanderlust. (For a writer, that is the finest point we can hear.)
More than the final month, I’ve performed a lot of interviews, videos, podcasts, and guest posts speaking not only about my book but how you can travel much more usually – and be a superior traveler when you do.

Book Your Trip: Logistical Suggestions and Tricks
Book Your Flight
Uncover a low-cost flight by making use of Skyscanner or Momondo. They are my two favourite search engines simply because they search web-sites and airlines about the globe so you often know no stone is left unturned.
Book Your Accommodation
You can book your hostel with Hostelworld as they have the biggest inventory. If you want to keep someplace other than a hostel, use Booking.com as they regularly return the least expensive prices for guesthouses and low-cost hotels. I use them all the time.
Do not Neglect Travel Insurance coverage
Travel insurance coverage will defend you against illness, injury, theft, and cancellations. It is extensive protection in case something goes incorrect. I under no circumstances go on a trip without the need of it as I’ve had to use it several occasions in the previous. I’ve been making use of Planet Nomads for ten years. My favourite organizations that give the finest service and worth are:
- Planet Nomads (for everybody under 70)
- Insure My Trip (for these more than 70)
